A bit about Scuba Legends
Who are we?
Scuba Legends is a young dive center under German management. Depending on the season, our team consists of three to five instructors, sometimes supported by Divemasters or trainees. We specialize in safe diving in small groups and use high-quality, well-maintained equipment.
Where is the dive center located?
Scuba Legends Dive Center Lanzarote is located in Puerto del Carmen, inside the “Puerto Cinco” shopping center, on the second floor (above the Dino supermarket and next to the Spinnaker restaurant).
Which languages do you speak?
Our team is international and multilingual. We speak Spanish, English, French, and German. If you require a specific language, please contact us before booking to confirm availability.
PADI eLearning course materials are available in many additional languages.
Diving information
What is the best time of year to dive?
Diving is possible all year round, with seasonal differences depending on your preferences:
- Winter (Dec–Feb): Water 18–20 °C, excellent visibility (often over 30 m), frequent angel sharks
- Spring / Summer (Mar–Aug): Water up to 24 °C, calm conditions, abundant marine life
- Autumn (Sep–Nov): Water 21–23 °C, migrating species and the return of angel sharks
In all seasons, you’ll find rich marine life, volcanic reefs, caves, and impressive wrecks.
How is underwater visibility?
Visibility is usually between 15 and 30 meters, depending on the dive site and conditions (swell, currents, wind).
How big are the groups?
A maximum of 5 divers per instructor. For try dives and courses, groups are even smaller.
Can I book a private guide or instructor?
Yes — for snorkelling, diving, or courses. Please contact us in advance for availability and pricing.
Are toilets available between dives?
Usually yes, as we return to shore and many dive sites have public facilities nearby.
How deep will I dive?
Depth depends on your certification, experience, and conditions, always following PADI standards and Spanish regulations.
How long does a dive last?
Up to 45 minutes or until reaching the safety reserve of 50 bar. Please allow additional time for briefings, equipment setup, and water entry/exit.
What should I bring?
- Swimsuit, dry clothes, towel
- Certification card, dive insurance, and logbook if you are a certified diver
- Warm clothing for cooler days
Your belongings are stored in our vehicle, but please bring only what you need. We are not responsible for loss or theft.
Food and drinks
You may bring your own snacks and drinks. We provide water and biscuits between dives. Bring some cash if you’d like coffee, food, or souvenirs nearby.
About diving equipment
Is diving equipment included?
For all beginner activities (snorkelling, PADI Discover Scuba Diving, PADI Scuba Diver, and PADI Open Water Diver course), equipment and insurance are included.
For certified divers, we include tanks and weights. The rest of the equipment can be rented at an additional cost.
Do I need a dive computer?
Yes. Spanish law requires one dive computer per diver. You can bring your own or rent one from us (subject to availability).
What wetsuit thickness do you recommend?
We use 6/7 mm wetsuits with hoods year-round. If you bring your own suit, we recommend at least 5 mm in summer. If you get cold easily, consider socks, gloves, or an extra vest. Semi-dry or dry suits are also possible.
What tanks do you use?
Primarily 12 L steel tanks. We also have 10 L and 15 L tanks available on request (subject to availability). For sidemount, twinsets, or technical diving, we use aluminium tanks.
Can I use my own equipment?
Of course. We’ll take care of it as if it were our own — including rinsing, drying, and packing.
Can I leave my equipment at the dive center?
Yes, you can store your equipment with us during your diving days.
Do I need to clean my diving equipment?
No. Our team takes care of everything — from transport and setup to rinsing and drying — so you can simply relax and enjoy your dives.
Dive insurance
Do I need dive insurance?
Spanish law requires all certified divers to have dive accident insurance. During check-in, you’ll be asked to provide your insurance details. If you don’t have your own insurance, you can purchase one of our daily or annual plans.
All beginner activities include dive insurance.
Refresher dive
I haven’t dived in a while — is that a problem?
If you haven’t dived in more than 6–12 months or have fewer than 30–50 logged dives, we strongly recommend a refresher. You’ll review equipment setup, basic skills, and buoyancy, helping you feel confident, safe, and relaxed underwater — and ensuring a pleasant experience for the whole group.
If you’d like to review theory beforehand, you can enroll in the PADI ReActivate eLearning (additional cost) and receive a renewed certification upon completion. This is especially recommended if your last course was a long time ago.
Flying after diving
Can I fly right after diving?
According to DAN, you should avoid flying or ascending above 300 m for at least 12 hours after a single dive, and 18 hours after two or more no-decompression dives. Since we usually dive in the morning and finish around midday, you can normally dive the day before your return flight without issues.
For technical dives with decompression stops, a surface interval of more than 24 hours before flying is recommended.
There are no restrictions on diving after flying — you can dive as soon as you arrive.
Medical declaration
Do I need a medical certificate?
Spanish law and diving organization standards require all divers to complete a medical questionnaire before any water activity. Some pre-existing medical conditions may require written medical clearance.
Honesty is essential — for your safety, your dive buddy’s safety, and the responsibility of our team. If you have any doubts about your health, please contact us. Safety is always our top priority.
For professional-level courses such as PADI Divemaster or Instructor, a medical certificate is mandatory before starting.
Check-in and paperwork
Do I need to complete any forms?
After your booking is confirmed, you’ll be asked to complete the online check-in as soon as possible. This includes the medical questionnaire, liability forms, and details about your experience level, certifications, and equipment sizes.
This allows us to:
Assign staff and organize groups by experience level
Prepare all equipment (including spare sizes) the day before and transport it to the dive site
This means you don’t need to visit the dive center in advance just to try equipment — though you’re always welcome to stop by and say hello.
Meeting point
Where do we meet for the activity?
You can meet us at the dive center and travel with the team to the dive site, or go directly to the dive location. We usually prepare all documentation, tanks, and equipment the day before, so there’s no need to visit the center prior to diving.
If you’re staying nearby or have a rental car, going directly to the dive site is often easier, with better parking and more flexibility.
During booking, we’ll ask about your accommodation and whether you have a car. You’ll then receive personalized details about meeting time, location, parking, and directions. Please check your inbox carefully.
Transfers and pick-ups
Do you offer pick-up services?
We usually meet directly at the dive center or dive site. As a small team, we don’t offer regular pick-up services, as they require additional staff and logistics.
If you need an individual pick-up, contact us before booking to check availability (additional charges apply depending on distance). For short distances, taxis work well, and for longer routes, public buses are reliable on the island.
Accommodation
Where should I stay during my vacation?
We don’t offer accommodation directly, but we’re happy to recommend options based on your preferences and budget. The most practical choice is to stay in Puerto del Carmen, near Playa Chica, our main dive site — allowing you to walk to the dives in the morning.
Puerto del Carmen offers long beaches, many bars and restaurants, and great shopping opportunities. You’ll find everything from studios and apartments to luxury villas and hotels. Lanzarote is a popular destination year-round, so booking in advance is recommended, even in low season.
Wherever you stay, we recommend renting a car to explore the island beyond the main tourist areas and discover Lanzarote’s unique landscapes.
Non-diving companions
Can I bring my partner or family with me?
If no transport is required, your companions can stay near the dive site or harbour, enjoy the beach, or visit nearby cafés. We also offer activities such as snorkelling or try dives, which can be great options for them.
Please understand that cars and boats have limited space and logistics must be planned carefully. Contact us before booking to confirm availability and any additional costs (e.g. boat or harbour fees).
Payments
Why do I need to pay in advance?
As a small dive center, advance payment allows us to secure your place, reserve equipment, and plan your diving experience efficiently. This helps us deliver a safe and high-quality service.
Online payment during booking is standard for many activities — similar to flights or concert tickets. Our cancellation and refund policy is designed to offer flexibility if your plans change.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us — we’re happy to help.
Availability and bookings
Do I need to book in advance or can I just show up?
At Scuba Legends, we focus on small groups, personalized service, quality, and safety. To plan groups properly and select dive sites according to experience levels, we work primarily with advance bookings rather than walk-ins.
We receive bookings from multiple platforms, and availability can change quickly. For this reason, we strongly recommend reserving your dates as early as possible.
The fastest way to book is online through our website. If you have questions before booking, you’re also welcome to call us or contact us via email or WhatsApp.
